2016
Yuliya Sporysh, the future founder of the NGO, starts her public activities by organizing lectures on sex education for teenagers with the participation of a gynaecologist.
2019
The official registration of the NGO Girls and the start of active work. The organization starts fundraising, engages professional lecturers, develops educational programmes and establishes cooperation with schools.
2020
The first major project on menstrual health and hygiene called “Health Without Shame” is launched in partnership with UNICEF.
2022
Amidst a full-scale war, the organization expands its humanitarian activities, builds a team of 300 people and raises $2,000,000 for its projects.
2023
The organization strengthens its role in the humanitarian response by joining clusters and working groups and becoming an active member of the Humanitarian NGO Platform. It also becomes one of the co-founders of the Alliance of Ukrainian CSOs.
2024
The NGO Girls takes a leading position in the Ukrainian feminist movement by actively implementing projects aimed at supporting women and girls across the country. The organization introduces sex education at the national level, actively advocates for localization of humanitarian response, and gains international recognition. The founder of the organization receives the Anne Klein Women's Award for her significant contribution to the development of the feminist movement and the protection of women's rights.
